This album was created with a music writing exercise that I made to help end a miserably long spat of writer's block:

I used an RNG to select six numbers between 1 - 128
These represent instruments from the General MIDI instrument list, which I must then write the song with. The only other sounds I may use are drums and I must utilize *all* of the sounds the RNG picked. This exercise takes away the pressure of infinite possibilities while creating the challenge of limitation. The digital instruments exist both as imitations of their physical world equivalent and as sounds with their own properties, limitations, and advantages, irrelevant to their source.

Beyond the concept aspect, I have my own version of the story presented by these songs, but I'd like it best if you imagined your own ^o^

On Battle of the Bits I run a weekly-ish series with these rules where everyone participating needs to start, finish, and upload the MIDI file for the song within an hour. These however were done in between 1 and 3 hours each.

All instruments are MSGS (aka the instruments that play on your computer when you listen to a MIDI file in your browser, Quicktime, or Winamp). I intend to release more music I've done/will do in this fashion, perhaps utilizing different synths, so please let me know if that interests you!

Download includes MIDI files for all the songs* so you can play around with them for fun or include them in your Doom WADs (please include a link back here and show me if you do that!)
